The customer knows what they want. Ranchers and cattle producers know where the true pains of their operation are and what they need to solve them. Tech companies can be very talented at building things—but sometimes not the right things. At 701x, we’re committed to engineering solutions that help producers be more productive and efficient while managing their herd—and we do that by listening to the customer.
Developing technology for cattle has pushed us to solve hard problems. Our customers asked for more reliable GPS, so we updated the hardware to deliver exactly that. They needed a way to know when animals are sick; our data science team built a model that can detect illness—even before most visual observers can see it. Many customers told us, “This works great when I have cell coverage, but that’s only half of my pasture. Can you do something about that?” We listened. We implemented state-of-the-art satellite connectivity so our tags can connect directly to a satellite—providing a solution even for the most remote pastures.
In the early days, the 701x app had one major challenge: it only worked while connected to Wi-Fi. Not ideal for something designed to collect data in the middle of a calving pasture. Because of customer feedback, the app now works offline: it stores data in the field and, when a producer is back on Wi-Fi, it automatically uploads and syncs so every user has the most up-to-date data for their operation.
All of this is possible because our engineering team is willing and ready to listen. This is the foundation of the team at 701x. Give us a call and share your thoughts on our products—we want to help the modern-day rancher stay productive and profitable using the technology of the future.
